Happy New Year from Miley Cyrus!

To ring in 2009, Miley Cyrus is planning her own kind of high school musical. She has booked a New Year's concert at an unlikely venue: Inside the gymnasium of Beckman High School in Irvine, Calif.

Back in the summer, MTV held a contest for high school students to win a live, Cyrus-headlines concert on New Year's Eve.

The winner is Alison Kaprielian, a senior whose tireless work for the Pink Ribbon Club for breast cancer awareness has won her school the experience of a lifetime.

Fresh back from a Christmas break with family in her hometown of Nashville, Cyrus and pal Mandy Jiroux spent most of Tuesday with Kaprielian.

"Miley and Mandy surprised the girl at her house today," says a source. "It was very cute."

Beckman student Allie Sanchez, a member of the dance team that will be performing onstage with Cyrus said, "We are all so excited! We have been practicing all day."

While Beckman High is hosting the bash, it's not just students of the school who will be attendance.

On MTV.com free tickets were won by "true fans of Miley Cyrus," who will gather in the bleachers for the cable net's New Year's Eve broadcast, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

There is one catch: All audience members must wear pink—and that will go for males and females alike.

Jonas Brothers Concert in Nashville

The Jonas Brothers are returning to Nashville on Jan. 4 to play a surprisingly small venue: the Ryman Auditorium.

Joe and Nick Jonas told The Tennessean that the band is aiming for a casual, "unplugged" kind of show at the Ryman, similar to its recent last-minute concert in Los Angeles after the American Music Awards.

"The show was amazing," Joe Jonas said. "It had a really cool, loose vibe, with us playing covers of some of our favorite songs, and inviting our friends to come up and play with us. We were just having a good time with our fans, and thanking them for what an amazing year this has been. We didn't get to hit Nashville on our tour this summer, so we decided to come and play there."

"We like to play shows when it's just solely about the music," Nick Jonas said. "Being able to get up there and just have fun with our band — that means the world to us. Touring with big productions is always so much fun, but when we get to break it down to a real intimate vibe with the people that are there, that's always a great time."

To Joe, intimate shows like this offer a "nice change from the big rock thing."

The brothers last visited Nashville in 2007, opening for Miley Cyrus at Sommet Center. They headlined previous concerts in Nashville, but that was before smash successes like Camp Rock and their third album, A Little Bit Longer, made them one of the biggest pop acts in the world.

The brothers hope to have some special guests join them at the show, but won't divulge any more.

"We like to keep surprises surprises, if you will," Nick said, "but I think some people might be joining us."

"Nashville's such a great music city, and we haven't been there in a long time," Joe said. "We wanted to do something special for all our Nashville fans that have been waiting for us to come back. Any chance we get to play our music and have a good time with friends and fans is something we always want to do."

Miley Cyrus to star in next Nicholas Sparks film

Disney is working on an untitled movie project that will star the teen celebrity sensation Miley Cyrus. The film is a love story, set in small town in eastern North Carolina, and is being tailor-made for the "Hannah Montana" star by author Nicholas Sparks. Miley's mother, Tish Cyrus, will be the executive producer.

Sparks plans to finish the screenplay before the end of the year and principal photography for the movie is planned for the first part of 2009.

Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, will publish the book in September of 2009.

The film will follow later that same year, which is considered a short window between book and movie release dates.

The project came about after Disney exec Jason Reed met with the actress, who is slowly broadening her image and transitioning to adult fare. She mentioned "A Walk to Remember" as an example of what she hoped for. Disney was looking for a new film project for Miley Cyrus, and she was looking for a film to play a more dramatic role in.

Sparks and director/producer Adam Shankman are reunited for this project. Shankman directed "A Walk to Remember."

Jennifer Gibgot, who partnered with Shankman in the Disney-based Offspring Entertainment production company, got the project off the ground.

Cyrus is starring as the voice of "Penny" in Disney/Pixar's animated movie "Bolt" that will be in theaters in November. In the spring of 2009, "The Hannah Montana Movie will be released". Her album, "Breakout" debuted at No. 1 this summer on the charts. She will also be co-starring with Raven-Symoné in the upcoming Disney film "Further Adventures in Babysitting".

Notable Nicholas Sparks novels that were made info movies include "The Notebook", "A Walk to Remember", "Nights in Rodanthe", and " Message in a Bottle".
