The Walt Disney Co. today filed plans to build a sprawling soundstage and production complex on the northwest corner of its Golden Oak Ranch in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The proposed Disney/ABC Studios at the Ranch would occupy 56 acres of the sprawling, 890-acre ranch just off Route 14 at Placerita Canyon Road, just south of Santa Clarita. Plans call for six pairs of soundstages, talent bungalows, administrative and production offices, storage and a commissary and other amenities.
The project would be a much-needed boost to Los Angeles' entertainment-industry economy, which has been buffeted by a production slowdown triggered by the recession and the decade-long outflow of film and TV jobs to other countries and states such as New Mexico, Lousiana and New York that offer generous tax breaks and credits.
Disney-owned ABC moved its own sitcom "Ugly Betty" from Los Angeles to New York last year, which helped spur the state Legislature to implement its own film tax credit program this year to curb so-called runaway production. Still, as Disney's announcement attests, the bulk of television production remains in Los Angeles.

Miley Cyrus has completed filming on The Last Song, and she is flying high towards her next project.
The Disney superstar has signed on to star in "Wings," a new film based on the best-selling Aprilynne Pike novel by the same name.
Fresh off her first film to hit the big screen in "Hannah Montana," Cyrus will play the leading role of Laurel, a 15-year-old girl who grows up sheltered and home-schooled in a small town.
When Laurel is forced to adjust to a big high school, her suspicions that she's not like everyone else are soon confirmed: Laurel sprouts wings and finds out she's a fairy.
Pike's novel, the first in a planned four-book series, was published in May. Temple Hill, the same co-production company behind the film "Twilight," will be producing this film, with Miley's mother Tish Cyrus serving as the executive producer.
Currently, Cyrus is currently in the Savannah, Georgia area filming her next movie, "The Last Song," which is based on a novel that romance author Nicholas Sparks ("The Notebook") wrote as a starring vehicle for Cyrus.
"Wings" will continue Disney's partnership with Miley well beyond the "Hannah Montana" franchise, which still has one season left.
Auditions and Casting Information for actors and extras to appear in Wings will be posted on the following site:
It's official. Miley Cyrus will play a small role in the Sex and the City sequel. And you can work with Miley as an extra in the scene!
Miley's single non speaking scene has her walking the red carpet in a dress identical to one that Kim Cattrall's character purchased for the event to look "hot and young."
On seeing Miley, Mario Cantone's character (Anthony) exclaims, "Mother of God! She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana."
Miley Cyrus is a big fan of the show and in the past has showed interest in acting in a teen version of the franchise.
"I would like to be able to have that show because I feel like so many girls do watch that show and I feel like there should be one that is a little more kind of like, censored and age-appropriate," she told Access Hollywood.
Sex and the City 2 is currently filming in New York City. Cyrus is set to film her scene in October, and the film hits theaters in May, 2009.
People interested in working on Sex and the City 2 as an extra can email a recent photo and contact information to:
You must be residing or staying in the New York City area to be considered.
Put away the schoolbooks and pack your wand, because the Russo family is headed on vacation in the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie —an extension of the popular tween series.
After a successful sophomore season, executive producer Peter Murrieta was thrilled the Disney Channel chose to make a movie for the small screen. "Rarely have they done a movie based on their series... so we're very excited they chose our show," he told TVGuide.com.
Alex, played by Selena Gomez, gets upset during a Caribbean vacation when her mom won't let her go out with a cute windsurfing instructor. As Jake T. Austin, who plays youngest brother Max, told TVGuide.com, Alex's harsh words accidentally activate "a spell where their parents never met. Max is forced to play a matchmaker and reconnect [parents] Jerry and Teresa," while Alex and Justin (David Henrie) try to reverse the spell.
Murrieta and Austin agree that there's much for fans to be excited about. The movie was shot in Puerto Rico rather than on stage and before a live studio audience. Viewers will see "more than 250 special effects [and] we're going to see more about the wizard competition, the battle to become the family wizard, and more of what that looks like and is," Murrieta explained.
Jake T. Austin thinks fans will also be excited about his on-screen sister, Selena Gomez. "She's singing six or seven songs on the soundtrack," he says.
Selena's growing popularity has helped the show's success, but Murietta mentioned that it created some "interesting challenges [when] people had to switch rooms during the shoot [and] check in under assumed names." He added, "We're very lucky in that our fans are excited to meet their stars that they look up to, but they're also pretty respectful of the work process."
"It was pretty intense, [but] it's good to know you have support being so far away from where you film," Austin mentioned.
Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie premieres on Aug 28 at 8/7c, on Disney Channel.

The Teen Choice Awards, which were selected by over 83 million votes cast online, honor celebrities in TV, film, music and sports. Several winners — including 16-year-old Miley Cyrus and show hosts the Jonas Brothers — took home multiple trophies at the 11th annual ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood's Gibson Amphitheater.
Cyrus sailed away with six awards, winning for comedy TV show and actress for "Hannah Montana;" music/dance movie actress and hissy fit for "Hannah Montana: The Movie;" music single for "The Climb" and summer song for "Before the Storm" with the Jonas Brothers. Cyrus also presented Britney Spears the ultimate choice award.
"I'm a huge fans of hers," Cyrus said before a subdued Spears accepted her own surfboard.
The Jonas Brothers won five trophies, including choice male red carpet icons. They kicked off the show performing on a tiny stage that moved through the audience. Throughout the taped ceremony, the trio completed dares submitted by fans. At one point, younger brother Nick was challenged to hug a lineup of female fans.
"It's just hugs," Joe cautioned the women. "You're not going for long-term relationships here, girls."
Demi Lovato's brief romance with Miley Cyrus' older brother Trace is over. "Demi is one of my good friends and I definitely became very, very close with her in the past few months," says Trace, a singer with the pop group Metro Station.
"It's something I really wanted to make work, but unfortunately, we both have very busy schedules," Trace told People. "We're both on tour right now. I'm always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can't work out at this time."
Cyrus also cited the couple's age difference as a cause for the break-up. Demi, 16, is a lot younger than me," says Trace, 20. "When someone is that much younger, you're looking for different things in relationships. Maybe when she's older and we've both matured, we'll be looking for the same thing and it can work out."
Leave it to the Disney Channel to come up with yet another great idea to inspire our kids. This summer, you may have noticed some public service announcements on the Disney Channel, featuring the kids from your favorite shows talking about ways to help your environment. This is the Disney Channel Friends For Change campaign. It encourages our kids to "reg and pledge to help protect the planet on which we stand." It is broken down into projects, such as climate, water, waste, and habitat.
Here is how it works:
First, go to Disney Channel.com/friendsforchange, and click on register and pledge. There you can click on get started, and view the projects that are currently being focused on. At the end of each project, your child gets to vote on how Disney will spend a quarter million dollars on projects related to the environment. The idea is, one friend is powerful, a million friends is unstoppable.
Choosing the pledge finder will connect you to find individual tasks connected with the project as a whole which your child can do to help do their part. The pledges are pretty simple, such as making sure your mom and dad only run the dishwasher and the washing machine when they are full, or turning off lights when your not in the room. It also tells your child how, when, and why these tasks are important to the big picture. Carpooling with your friends to school or riding your bike helps cut down on cars on the road. This can save up to 790 pounds of emissions a year. Multiply that by a million friends, and our kids can save up to 395,000 tons of carbon monoxide a year.
Aside from doing good for our planet, it gives kids the chance to feel identified with some of their much loved heroes from Disney, such as Miley Cyrus, Selana Gomez, the Jonas Brothers, and Demi Levato, who perform the original song in the Friends for Change music video, "Send It On." There are still two projects which haven't even begun yet, so log on to disneychannel.com with your kids and find out how you can help out. Its a great way for kids to get involved.
Did you know:
-It takes 120,000 gallons of water to make a small car, but only 35 to make a bicycle?
-The average person spends roughly 440 hours driving each year?
-Between Thanksgiving and New Years, the average person puts out about 25% more trash, which is equal to about 5 million pounds?

A rep for Camilla Belle has confirmed that the actress and boyfriend Joe Jonas has parted ways. Through the couple never confirmed they were dating, the rep says rumors of a split are true but Belle and Jonas remain friends.
Joe prompted rumors of a break-up during a gig in Detroit, Mich., on Sunday when he changed the lyrics to break-up song "Much Better."
Instead of singing "Get a rep for breakin' hearts, now I'm done with superstars," presumed to have been a reference to his relationship with Swift, he crooned, "Get a rep for breakin' hearts, now I'm done with movie stars."
He was also missing a necklace the actress had given him as a present. When approached by E! Online correspondent Marc Malkin to confirm the rumors, Jonas' spokesperson confirmed the split, but insisted, "There is no third party involved."
“Yes, it’s true, they have broken up. There is no third party involved and they care deeply about each other and will remain friends,” Belle’s rep Brad Cafarelli confirmed. The pair began dating last November following the Jonas Brothers singers split from Taylor Swift.
Jonas, 19, is currently on the Jonas Brothers World Tour with his brothers and bandmates Kevin Jonas and Nick Jonas. Both brothers have been getting serious with their girlfriends – Kevin recently proposed to Danielle Deleasa while Nick is said to have given girlfriend Miley Cyrus a “promise ring.” Belle, 22, is currently filming Father of Invention with Kevin Spacey.

Disney wants to find the “next Zac Efron” in the UK, with plans to produce shows in the vein of High School Musical and Hannah Montana that target boys.
Jonathan Bosely, vice president of programming, Disney UK and Ireland, told delegates at the Showcomotion conference in Sheffield, England that he is seeking UK - produced international formats for the new Disney XD channel, including entertainment series focused on music and sports.
“It’s about aspirational characters, great stories and a sense of achievement. What is the High School Musical for boys? The Hannah Montana? These are the things we’re really interested in – supercharged entertainment formats,” he said.
Disney XD is due to launch in the UK in the autumn and will replace Jetix, targeting boys between six and 14, with a sweet spot of eight to 12. Orion Ross, vice president of original series, Disney Channels EMEA, added that the channel is seeking programs that offer a “sense of achievement and accomplishment and moving onto the next level – and also cool stuff like sports.”
Meanwhile Disney Channel is seeking shows that will help it “consolidate” its bedtime slots in the face of competition from BBC Children’s and Nickelodeon, as well as series that will break new, UK talent.
Bosely said: “We want formats that enable us to break new kid talent. We want to find the next Zac Efron in the UK and we think we can. It’s about empowering kids and kids want to sing, they want to dance they want to perform… We’re looking for formats that obviously work in the UK but can also work around Europe and globally.”
Kevin Jonas has stunned fans of the Jonas Brothers by asking his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa to marry him.
The romantic pop star, 21, reportedly dropped to one knee after showing up unannounced at Deleasa's home in New Jersey on Wednesday morning, after flying in from a Tuesday night concert in Vancouver, Canada. He presented her with a custom-made, cushion-cut diamond ring, according to People.com
The former hairdresser admits that, when she first met Kevin, she didn't know who the Jonas Brothers were. Kevin pursued her after seeing her walking on the beach with a flower in her hair. Thrilled Jonas tells the publication, "It was tough performing last night, knowing that I was going to ask the biggest question in my life to the most amazing girl in the world.
"She said yes, yes, yes, like, 500 times super fast in a row." The couple met in 2007 while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas, and Kevin has the blessing of his parents.
A statement from Denise and Kevin Jonas, Sr. reads, "Our hearts are filled with joy today and we are happy to share with you that our son Kevin has asked Danielle for her hand in marriage. It is such a blessing that she will be joining our family."
Fans can now get a chance to hang out with the Jonas Brothers and giving to charity at the same time. During the boys' 100-city tour, Nick, Kevin and Joe will be taking time to greet fans backstage before their show, promoting their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
Fans can cruise over to CharityFolks.com to get their tickets and enter to hang out with the Jonas Brothers. Proceeds will go to their personal charity, Change for the Children Foundation.
In 2008 the Jonas Brothers were the celebrities who generated the most revenue for charity on CharityFolks.com, raising nearly a half a million dollars $500,000 for their charity by way of offering VIP meet-and-greets with fans.

Holly Hull beat off stiff competition in the My Camp Rock competition and secured the victory in a public vote.
She will now record and release a song from the film Camp Rock, starring the Jonas Brothers, which inspired the contest. Her rendition will be shown on Friday, May 1st, 2009 at 5.55pm on the Disney Channel.
Speaking after her victory, the 14-year-old said she was thrilled with the win.

Holly was one of eight budding music stars who originally won places on an intensive Camp Rock-style singing and dancing workshop.

The first television series ever to be completely filmed and produced in the State of Michigan is headed to the metro Detroit area. S3 Entertainment Group is partnering with Stern LeMaire Productions, Inc. to produce a tween sitcom called "The Wannabes".
Although this is not a Disney Channel production (as far as I know), the main actors featured in the half-hour tween sitcom are from the real-life Disney pop sensation "Savvy". In "The Wannabes" series, the teens are desperate to become pop stars, but they attend a strict arts academy boarding school where they are only able to stick to the classics like ballet, instrumental music and Shakespeare.
After being punished to work in a local café, the teens meet the owner's daughter who talks her dad into letting the academy students rock out at the café, but they have to keep their identities a secret by wearing disguises.
The show was created by writer/producer, Doreen Spicer who wrote the Disney Channel's hit movie "Jump In!" The series is directed by Eric Dean Seaton who has worked on other tween hits such as "Hannah Montana", "Sonny with a Chance", "That's So Raven," "Cory in the House" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."
“Savvy and the entire Stern-LeMaire team are extremely excited to be filming our series in Michigan,” stated Chris LeMaire. “We are looking forward to working with the communities and the people to really utilize the great assets that Michigan has to create a dynamic television program that fans will enjoy.”
Shooting for the series will begin Summer, 2009. Because of the generous Michigan film incentives, the show will be entirely produced in state. Hundreds of new jobs will be created during the term of the series and local Michigan talent and crew will be hired.
Tween heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers return to Toronto this June as hosts of the MuchMusic Video Awards. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas also will perform at the awards show, which recognizes excellence in Canadian music videos.
They are set to release their fourth studio album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, just ahead of the MMVAs. More than 6,000 screaming fans shut down the streets around MuchMusic headquarters in Toronto last July when the Jonas Brothers made a live appearance.
The MMVA features opportunities for fans to see the stars, either arriving for the awards gala or performing on the streets in downtown Toronto. Nominees for the MMVAs will be announced in May. This year's other performers have yet to be announced.
The Jonas Brothers hosting duties will take place just after their fourth album Lines, Vines and Trying Times is released worldwide and comes right at the beginning of the JoBros world tour, which includes several shows in Canada including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.
In her second outing on the big screen, Miley Cyrus ruled the box office again as Disney's "Hannah Montana: The Movie" charmed $17.1 million fans on Friday.
Not only did the film's opening day beat out the $8.7 million first day of last year's "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour," "Hannah Montana: The Movie" also posted an all-time record for a G-rated live action opener ever, inching out the $17 million earned by Disney's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" last fall on its first Friday. "Hannah Montana: The Movie" was released in 3,118 theaters yesterday.
"Hannah Montana: The Movie" also charted the second best Friday opening for a feature film released during the Easter weekend, ranking behind 2006's "Scary Movie 4" ($19 million). In addition, the Disney movie was the second-highest opening for a family film (PG or G-rated) released prior to the summer movie season, outperforming the first Friday of Paramount-DreamWorks' "Monsters vs. Aliens" ($16.8 million) and slotting behind Fox's 2006 toon "Ice Age: The Meltdown" ($21.8 million).
Miley Cyrus will begin work soon on another Disney film titled "The Last Song", written by Nicholas Sparks. Principal photography begins summer, 2009 and will run through late August, 2009. The filming locations will be in Savannah, Georgia and other nearby coastal locales, Julie Anne Robinson (Pushing Daisies, Grey's Anatomy, Samantha Who, Coming Down the Mountain) will direct. The film centered on a rebellious young woman who is sent to spend the summer with her estranged father.
Disney Channel heartthrob Zac Efron has backed out of his Kevin Bacon-channeling role in the upcoming remake of the classic '80s musical Footloose. The big screen remake of the popular 1984 film is now in pre-production.
The film will not be reuniting Zac Efron and director Kenny Ortega. Paramount Pictures said in a statement, "While Zac Efron is no longer attached to Footloose, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, to reinvigorate the franchise. His fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we've come to expect from him."
Efron was attached to star in the film but supposedly pulled out of the project to avoid what was fast becoming a typecasting issue. To date, the Disney grad has sung and danced his way through three High School Musicals, Hairspray and even the Oscars.
While Efron has yet to publicly address his reasons for dropping out of the project he has been attached to since July 2007, his move came after the most recent rewrite of the remake's script.

It seems the Jonas Brothers are juggling more projects these days than a Wall Street banker. There's the Jonases' new album due in June, rehearsals for this summer's world tour, the "Camp Rock" movie sequel, not to mention monitoring the receipts of this month's 3D concert movie.
As for the 3D concert movie, skeptics noted that the film receipts totaled only $12.7 million for its first weekend and a mere $2.5 million for its second, well below what experts had predicted for such a hot tween property. Joe tried to put the figures in perspective. "At first, you look at it and think it's not doing as well as people perceived but then you look back and be thankful. It's the second highest grossing concert film of all time (behind Miley Cyrus' "Hannah Montana") and that's one of the most amazing achievements," he said. "We were happy where we're at."
Meanwhile, the Jonases this week wrapped up shooting their TV series, "Jonas," which begins in May on the Disney Channel. "It'll be our first time acting," Joe Jonas said. "So far, so good. We've been watching some of the episodes back and we're really excited. We're kind of playing fictional characters (based on) ourselves. We are not the Jonas Brothers, but we are a band called Jonas. It's kind of an overexaggerated version of ourselves."
Thereafter comes their album, due June 15. Joe says the sound of the trio, working again with Minneapolis-bred producer John Fields, was inspired by several different artists: Kings of Leon, Prince, the Zutons and Neil Diamond "with a lot more horns."
A cynic might think that the Jonas Brothers are flooding the marketplace with products and projects because, like previous teen heartthrobs, they might have a limited shelf life.
"We work a lot with the Disney Channel and they release their own things and the Jonas Brothers, we release our own things. Together, it can be a lot," Joe said. "I guess we don't know how long this run is going to be for; but at the same time, we're happy where we are."
If you have not heard the name Kelly Blatz yet, you soon will be hearing it often.
Quickly creating buzz, the California native comes out of the hit-making machine that catapulted Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and the High School Musical cast to fame and stardom.
If all goes as planned, the Walt Disney Company will package 21 year old Kelly Blatz into a marketing machine that extends across the company's many platforms, from film and television to merchandise and music.
Disney Channel's vice president of casting and talent, Judy Taylor, remembers the day Blatz came in to audition. "He had been in the room for about 10 minutes when we said, 'Maybe we should find Disney Channel Entertainment President Gary Marsh and introduce him'" she recalls of a Shia LaBeouf-like star quality. "We felt that strongly from the moment we saw him."
Always focused on the next big thing, Disney's latest new network, Disney XD, has pinned its hopes and marketing dollars on the young actor.
Today he can be seen playing the title role on the new network's flagship series Aaron Stone. A former Starbucks barista, Blatz also has a leading part in a much larger role: to attract male tweens to a network tailored to their tastes.
Until February's XD launch, there was a relative shortage of programming designed specifically for the 18 million male tween viewers in the USA. It's a powerful piece of the younger population to not fully attract: Internationally, the age group, usually defined as kids 6 to 14, injects an estimated $50 billion into the economy.
Later this year, Disney XD will serve up still more tween boy talent. The 16-year-old newcomers Hutch Dano and Adam Hicks star in a documentary-style comedy, Zeke & Luther. The pair will play best friends who have set their sights on becoming the world's best skateboarders.
"I'm always looking for talent that you can relate to and that can handle a show," says Taylor.
Who needs hot sauce when you have The Jonas Brothers with your crispy taco? Arguably the hottest teen sensation at the moment is teaming up with Mexican quick-service restaurant, Taco Bueno, for a concert promotion. One lucky Taco Bueno customer can register to win an all-expenses-paid trip for four to attend the brothers' concert in Houston on March 9th and meet the boys in person.
On the heels of an appearance on the Grammy Awards with music legend Stevie Wonder, an exclusive visit to the White House to entertain its newest little occupants during inauguration week, and the upcoming opening of their much-anticipated 3-D IMAX concert experience release, The Jonas Brothers' concert tour will take a spin through the great state of Texas, and one lucky "Buenohead" (and three people of his/her choice) will be their special guests.
The chance to enter the competition is easy, and no purchase is necessary. Customers can obtain entry forms exclusively at any Taco Bueno restaurant; all they have to do is ask an employee. The entry forms must be mailed in by February 23rd to participate. Taco Bueno employees and their families are not eligible for the contest.

The JONAS BROTHERS hit the big screen in a high-energy Walt Disney Pictures rockumentary feature film event filmed in Disney Digital 3-D™. The film blends excerpts from the brothers’ red-hot Burning Up concert tour, including guest performances by DEMI LOVATO and TAYLOR SWIFT, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, off-the wall segments, a never-before-heard song (“Love Is on Its Way”), swarming fans and a lot of JB-style humor—giving fans never-beforeseen insights into the lives of KEVIN, JOE and NICK.
Filmed during their 2008 “Burnin’ Up” concert tour, which drew more than 1 million fans, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” delivers unbelievably crisp imagery via Disney Digital 3-D™, which proved to be a great medium for transporting audiences directly into the center of Jonas Brothers’ dynamic and fun performances and highlights why the three brothers—Kevin, 21, Joe, 19, and Nick, 16—are America’s newest superstars. As the motion picture reveals, the Jonas Brothers have the talent, the character and the drive to stay on top, entertaining audiences and enthralling their fans for a long, long time.
The film, which also features “BIG ROB” FEGGANS, the Jonas Brothers’ head of security, is directed by Bruce Hendricks and produced by Art Repola, who previously served in the same capacities on Walt Disney Pictures’ “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” film and Touchstone Pictures and ESPN’s “Ultimate X.” Producing with Repola are Johnny Wright, Philip McIntyre, Kevin Jonas Sr. and Alan Sacks. The executive producers are Doug Merrifield and Vince Pace. The directors of photography are Mitchell Amundsen (“Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” “Ultimate X”) and Reed Smoot, A.S.C. (“Ultimate X”), and the editor is Michael Tronick, A.C.E. (Walt Disney Pictures’ “Bedtime Stories,” “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert”).
“I think this is a brand-new kind of experience because it’s a feature-length rockumentary in 3-D,” Joe says. “People come to our concerts and see it from the audience’s point of view, but this movie really makes you feel like you’re on stage performing with us. We had multiple cameras running on stage, so it really feels like you’re part of the experience.”
For the brothers, seeing the 3-D film is a novel experience. As Kevin says, “It was a shock. I had always been on stage during the performance, but to actually see what our performance looked like from outside ourselves was really cool.”
“But it’s not just the performances that are important,” Nick adds. “It’s the things we show behind the scenes that really stood out for us and we hope will give our fans a better idea of who we really are.” For fans, that means seeing various facets of each of the brothers. Kevin says: “Nick’s the leader type. We call him Mr. President for a reason. He’s very precise. He knows what’s going on. Joe is comic relief. He’s constantly making me laugh, and he’s always on top of his game.” “And Kevin’s the fun one,” Joe adds.
The Jonas Brothers’ meteoric rise has been nothing less than a pop culture phenomenon. They have been recognized for their impressive talents with several awards as well. They were Grammy®-nominated as Best New Artist in 2008. The same year, they won six Teen Choice Awards, including Summer Song for “Burnin’ Up,” Male Hottie, Music Breakout Group, Red Carpet Icon, and Music Love Song and Music Single for “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” In August of 2008, the brothers’ latest album, “A Little Bit Longer,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 during the filming of the movie and quickly went platinum. During the same week the album debuted, the soundtrack to “Camp Rock” featuring the Jonas Brothers was at No. 8 on the chart and Jonas Brothers’ eponymous CD was at No. 10, marking the first time an artist had held three titles in the top 10 in Sound Scan history. They also appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, which became the top-selling issue of 2008.
“The Jonas Brothers are a phenomenon with their generation,” director Bruce Hendricks says. “It’s quite extraordinary how talented they are: They write the songs, they’re all multi-instrumentalists. They put on an extraordinary show and are very polished. There’s almost nothing that they can’t do. All of the choreography, the outfits and the look of the stage in the film were designed and created by the Jonas Brothers. But I think the kids can relate to them on a very personal level and admire them as people as much as musicians.”
Nick says: “We hope to get the message across that as busy as we are, as much fun as we have, that at the end of the day family’s really important to us. You’ll see that we really are a family with our band and our crew and everyone who works on this with us, and we want to invite the audience into the family and come have a good time with us on stage and off stage.”
Pop trio the Jonas Brothers will host the primetime programing on the CW network Tuesday (February 10), providing a sneak peek of their film "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience," which opens in theaters February 27.
During commercial breaks of that night's airings of "90210" and "Privileged," the three siblings will talk about the making of the film with "90210" actress Jessica Lowndes. A clip from the movie of them performing "Tonight" will air.
"Jonas Brothers: 3D" follows in the footsteps of Disney's 2008 3D concert entry, the "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour."
That film went on to become the top-grossing concert film of all time at the U.S. box office, earning $65.2 million.
The "Jonas Brothers 3D" soundtrack is due February 24 from Hollywood Records. It features collaborations with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato as well as a cover of Shania Twain's "I'm Gonna Getcha Good."
